MK5 GTI engine

(1/1)

Heisenberg:
Hello VASK members

A recent sad engine situation whereby cambelt has snapped on my tidy, stock, NZ new, manual GTI. Upon closer inspection I cannot turn the exhaust cam so am expecting significant valve damage when I take off the cylinder head.

Please let me know if there are any reasonably priced 2.0 TFSI engines out there for sale in the VASK community, preferably low kms in the Auckland area.

superfueler:
If the pistons did not get holes in them, why dont you just rebuild the cylinder head and new timing belt kit? Should be a nice little project.

Heisenberg:
Yes, will look at that option too once I get the head off to survey the damage. I need to get one of those VW specific M10/T52 long polydrives to get the head bolts out.

Why not just purchase a written off GTI from Turners and swap the engine over?
