Something I've been slowly putting together for someone else, MK1 Golf with BYD Ko4 Pirelli engine and 02J 5 speed.
Running the Pirelli fuel pump in a modified MK1 tank, factory ECU etc and in the thick of the wiring right now to get it running.
LSD in the gearbox which it will definitely need with stock power of 199kw but owner plans to tune it as well.

That?s a awesome swap! I?ve always wondered about the mounting height of these engines in a mk1. Did you use the stock engine mount on the BYD engine with just a generic 02j gearbox swap mounts or all custom? Look forward to following the progress! Great work.

Mostly custom mounts using the factory MK1 mounting points on the body. Biggest headache on a MK1 is space for the Intercooler / Radiator due to the tiny engine bay.
I've also made an X brace underneath to tie the suspension mounts together in an X back to the sway bar mounts to hopefully control the front end a bit more.
I won't be doing a build thread on this as I just don't have the time.

What did you do to fit the Pirelli pump in the mk1 tank? Did you also install baffles around the pickup?

Machined a steel ring that was welded to the tank. The entire mk5 pump unit now fits in the mk1 tank as it would be in a mk5.
