The reason for 97 or older is there was no paper work on the cars from 93-96 on frontal impact
so the LTSA wont let you import them  but if you do go through JDM they will do all this sort of ground work for you
as I found out when I got my GTi throught them

Hey mk3 gti - how did you find the process with JDM? What advice would you give to someone who is going to import a car with them?

Although that's a lot of effort to put into styling a crappy base model!

they wre very good and It was very much I said I have $$$$ to spend and what car I wanted with a ball mark for Kms
and they did the rest via Email to me

All you have to do is put down 10% dep to show you are serious them pay the ballance when you pick it up
there was one of the runner boards missing which they got replaced as well as a few scratches wahich they had fixed

It was very painless and easy

Blake

I thought you had to pay the balance within three days of winning the auction and the ten % was straight away??

How long did it take to ship?

Did you get a good deal re: saving some moolah and importing yourself than buying privately in NZ or from a yard?

mk3 gti

It took 3 weeks to get here and I saved about 4-5k depending what car yard you went to

I got a 97GTi Mk3 with 50,000km on the clock ready to drive away for $11,500
which I thought was a good deal and I have done dyno runs with it and am very happy
I have posted the dyno runs in the dyno run post

Blake

bargain mate. seems like the shipping time was very fast also.

Just regarding payment. You paid 10% straight away then pay the remander when it arrived or a few days after the auction was completed?

How long ago was this?

mk3 gti

The way they operate is 10%  down before the real bidding will start then full payment once invoiced

I payed the whole lot at once as I did not put the deposit down once I was invoiced for the car

James and deb (JDM) it is a very small family business with Mum and son doing all of the buying and everthing else

They wopuld either ring me or emAIL me with any progress of the car as it happened
once it was all done they droped it off at my house with a full tank of gas.

but if you are serious email them and they will answer any questions on pricing etc  ;D :)

Blake

I have spoken to Deb quite a bit and she is really helpful.

When do they invoice you for the car? When it is delivered or what?

"I payed the whole lot at once as I did not put the deposit down once I was invoiced for the car"

When exactly did you pay it? Once you won the auction or when they delivered the car to you?

How long ago did you do this?

mk3 gti

I paid on invoice about 4 days after I won the bid for the car

I got the car end of January this year

They seem very relaxed about payment etc
