Hi all,

I think there maybe something wrong in the fueling of my vento/jetta. It isnt very economical at all! Its a automatic 2.0 SIMOS (?) engine.

Also when I accelerate and the reves go over about 2000 there is a whine/whistle from the engine.

I asume these two things are linked, It could be sucking to much air through a bust vacum pipe leading the engine to belive it is being pushed much harder!

Any help apreciated, dont mind paying somebody some money to check this out, it will save me in the long run!

Hey,
Lol! I have the exact same problem with my Golf 2.8 VR6, it has worse fuel economy than my dad's 5 litre V8!!!
Mine's auto too, and I too notice excessively high revs at slow-mid speed, motorway seems fine to me though.
Sorry '1.8t' but I can't help you, I'm in the same boat :-\

well i dont know a hell of alot about VR6s but if you have a air leak it will be best to fix it and hope you get better fuel consumption. Get a lenght of hose and with your ear at one end wave the other end around the inlets area and injectors and stuff and see if you can find where it is. It may also be a ruptured diafram somewhere?
Also have your auto proffesionally flushed and adjusted as maybe the torque converter is slipping or something. Good luck.
