Sweet, I was thinking of getting one for my car.

Where did you get it from Noel?

I have one of those little suckers myself! it's fantastic, so adjustable and the big rubber mount cuts the vibration down too.

I had a little trouble finding a place that would ship outside the US, but perseverance paid off. Enjoy!

What camera have you got Noel?

Also, has anyone used one of those suction cup mounts that sticks to the windscreen?  Are they any good?

They work, but you'll never get through scrutineering with a suction mount. Some will even insist on a secondary restraint system, as a camera will rip out the mounting point in a serious crash.

yeah limpit mounts are great.    amazingly strong hold.  you can tape them down for piece of mind.
And always use a safety strap so if it does come loose it doesn't smash on the ground.
Manual focus is the way for in car stuff. Auto will blur up at the first drop of water on your screen. or bug.

Before you commit to that check out Manfrotto mounts. I have one and I sourced one for Pete Blackie - commecial quality, solid and beautiful quality. Large bracket clamps onto roll cage bar then has a universal swivel mount - unlimited postioning except for any restrictions imposed by cage bars. Solid as. Cost me about $240 sourced from camera store in Hamilton (Snapshot). It's not damped other than rubber facings to clamps, but you will have no shake issues as long as you camera has good OIS - my Panasonic is superb, and Canon should be good too (they invented OIS)

PM Bigbumper and ask him about Stacey's one - looked good although not as easy to change position as mine. Inexpensive apparently.

Purchased on Ebay, but the supplier has their own e-com site, http://www.truechoice.com/prodinfo.asp?number=IOP%20CM1

Haven't decided which camera to use yet, either a hard power wired old analogue camera from the AE86 or a 2 year old digital job.

Will do a provisional mount this weekend in the car.

I've always said, a camera is critical. If you gonna right it off, you might as well get it on camera! So far my AE86 has over 3500 youtube views !
