The last few S2s out of the factory went thru Audi's motorsport division, and luckily we got one. There are no other modifications as of yet - I would love to have RS2 front and rear bumpers on it, and then upgrade the brakes, and a new sport grill, and a number of other bank-emptying things. But right now, it's fairly standard. What cheap and beneficial upgrades are out there?
Here's another pic:
Genuine front and rear RS2 bumpers (if you could find any) would set you back around $5000 at least, by the time you landed them in NZ. Then you need to find Porsche 993 lights to suit - there's another $1000. There is a damaged front bumper on german ebay right now for 750 Euro.
You might like to look at the Rieger front (a very close copy of the RS2 in abs) - I am about to bring one in myself direct from Germany, and it is going to end up costing around $1500 landed, without GST, lights, headlamp washers or painting. That was with a very favourable freight charge.

Any brake upgrades worth doing will be at least $2500 using used calipers, best sourced from the USA. The current preferred path is porsche 996 4-pot brembo calipers mounted on machined brackets from the Seat Ibiza with 323mm A8 discs, but that would not quite fit unless you either used smaller discs, or changed to 17" wheels.
RS2 "little red" calipers are no longer considered as a value-for money upgrade, and the 996 monoblocs are supposedly more reliable.

What are the modifications that you believe have been made to give the horsepower figure that you are quoting? I'm afraid your story about run-out models having been worked on in some way at the factory is not a story that I have ever heard before, and I have lurked in all the S2 forums for many years.
Nice car !
