After any feedback if anyone has used them....what do you guys think of this ??

1.8L 8V Zylinderkopf

Most 1.8L cylinder heads were designed with sufficiently large intake (40mm) and exhaust (33mm) valves to suit most engines. Our 1.8L heads, offered in either solid or hydraulic valve lifter design, incorporate our exclusive port configuration to maximize airflow and use the original size 40mm intake and 33mm exhaust valves as used in the GTI. SportTuned valve springs & titanium valve spring retainers, OE valves, bronze-silicon valve guides, cylinder head gasket set and either the Euro GTI camshaft for solid lifter heads or the AUTOTECH Sport 270? camshaft for hydraulic heads are all part of the package. Hydraulic head applications also receive new OE hydraulic lifters. The Zylinderkopf is shipped completely assembled, ready to install. Zylinderkopf can also be custom configured to your specifications.

Smallstem Zylinderkopf

This new addition to our Zylinderkopf line is designed to improve low rpm torque and high rpm power over ordinary performance heads.Based on a hydraulic lifter cylinderhead, the Small Stem Zylinderkopf uses smaller valve stem diameters instead of increased valve head size to maximize airflow capabilities. The smaller 7mm stems increase airflow without losing low rpm air velocity common with larger head diameters. Because of this, the Small Stem Zylinderkopf is well suited for everything from stock 1.8L to built-up 2.1L bottom ends. Special SportTuned 40mm and 33mm valves run in silicone-bronze guides. Our exclusive port configuration provides optimum airflow without sacraficing drivability. Our precision 3 angle valve job maximizes airflow while maintaining the durability expected on a street motor. The street-legal AUTOTECH Sport 270? Hydro Camshaft with our SportTuned valve springs are included. This head is hydraulic lifter only. Not available in a solid lifter version. Zylinderkopf can also be custom configured to your specifications.

I've bought a few things from them - they are reasonable with their customer support and mostly seem to have well engineered products.

As far as the cylinderkopf goes it seem like a fairly good deal.  It's a fairly expensive exercise getting a cylinder head modified on it's own, let alone when you add titanium retainers, HD Springs, new lifters, guides AND a camshaft.  So as a package it stacks up well.  The only fly in the ointment will be freight and GST, but then the dollar is so strong that it will probably still look like a good deal.

Is there any advantage to larger valves on the 8v GTi?  That could be worth chasing up too.

They have replied with this:

Ordinarily such a cylinder head for your A2 GTI would not be a problem, but unfortunately we do not have a cylinder head here for your particular car; markets other then our North American cars have vehicles where the combustion chamber is in the crown of the piston, whereas all of our North American vehicles have the combustion chamber in the cylinder head itself; we can work on your individual cylinder head, but do not have a spare one to supply you with.

Shipping should not be overly expensive to New Zealand, the complete, fully assembled cylinder head is usually close to 40-42lbs.  So if you can source an extra cylinder head that is just like the one currently on your car, or can do without the specific head on your GTI for a number of weeks, then we'd be happy to perform the labor on it and send right back to you!  Often these jobs take about 8-10 weeks to complete, but if you would like any neccessary information I will be happy to supply it to you.  I just wanted to inform you that performing labor to these cylinder heads are often a bit trickier for our international customers then our domestic ones, primarily because of the difference in the location of the combustion chamber.
