Hi anyone ever changed gearbox oil on an Audi 100 S4 Auto, is it easy and what do you need to do, I need to do an oil change?

Is this the one on TradeMe?

Take it to a transmissions specialist and have the ATF replaced using the machine. If you just drain it yourself you're not going to get the fluid in the torque converter and the whole point is to clean out the torque converter.

If it's the same as the one on mine, you won't have a dipstick, which means that if you do it yourself you have to very carefully measure what came out so you can put the same amount back in.

The trans shop machine will replace the same amount as what comes out.

There are posts in this section about this - the 'official' way to do it is with the scanner which tells you the ATF temp, at a certain temp the fluid is supposed to dribble out of the top of the pipe, if I'm not mistaken.

I replaced the trans sump gasket and filter and was never happy that the amount of ATF that went back in was enough because the box was noisy when cold after that. Problem pretty much went away with additional fluid.

Like I say, take it to the shop, usual cost is $200 for a trans flush.
