P.S. think I saw your RS2 on Ponsonby road over the weekend: very jealous!

Not sure how many black ones are in NZ. I drove one that was for sale at CCS about 3 years ago, but may be a differnet one: seemed to be stock, but someone had wound the wastegate spring down, and the front suspension was a bit crashy.  That one was quite high KMs I think.

Black and sliver are the most common RS2 colours in the country (4 of each).
I would say that RS2Simons car is the car you drove a few years ago as two Auckland VASK members own 2 of the other black RS2s in the country, both with lower kms.

I bought this RS2 to have the ultimate ?Q? car, let?s face it, unless you know German cars anybody would blink and not give a second look to an RS2, even people who have heard of the RS4 don?t know what an RS2 is!

So, this brings me to the point, this car will be an absolute animal, my aim is to get it to 500BHP at the wheels, this will include all the piping, intercooling, brakes and handling to match.

Yes the car is nice as standard, but I never bought it for that.

Thanks again for your posts, here is the list of the parts list  >:D

Just a small shopping list then. ;D

There is a site in US called
http://www.intendedacceleration.com/

I rang Ned about 4 years ago, huge experience.
That was when i was tryind to get around the immobiiser problem, it was Ned who suggested using a USA version of ecu, it worked.
He has converted Audi 100/200 type cars to very highpower.
USA never got the RS2.

Send him an email, and ask to ring him, very approachable guy.

if the list takes anywhere as long to get as it does to read, you're in for a long project.
2000 S4, MTM stage 1, Oettinger RE's, Bilstein Sports, Vogtland springs, H&R Swaybars, DBA 4000 rotors, EBC Yellow stuff pads, 710N DV's, F1 tints, RS4 clutch

phil

Cafe must be going well then  :P

Will you still be able to call it an RS2 after all that ?

hemihead

good to see someone else pushing for ponies! i'd be keen for a look-see if you do an order from 034 - i've just ordered a clutch and ali flywheel from javad!

i could be a help when it comes to shipping, i'll be doing another 034 order before long so we may as well split the shipping costs if your interested?

Filx

Hell yeah!!! That's awesome! You sir have Karma and I nominate you for official "Project Car" status  ;D

I will certainly be frequenting the cafe happy in the knowledge that some small percentage of my coffee addiction is going towards creating such excessive power!  >:D

Its only the engine, would you still call this an RS2? This is what my car will look like  >:D

I presume those prices are in US $$...a good time to get stuff from over there I suppose.

I make it about NZ$20k - parts alone.

Power in spades!!!!! ha ha cant to see this puppy completed!

Simon please note that there has been an extensive thread on tubular manifolds on the S2forum, and it discusses a propensity to develop cracking faults. Something to do with the steel not dealing well with the heating and cooling process that regular use produces, combined with the weight of the upgraded turbo hanging on it (but apparently OK for continuous high temp track usage). Cast iron recommended for regular use = a Sport Quattro/or MTM cast exhaust mainfold for your HP target. Tubular do look the ducks though.

Also a group buy on a inlet manifold that is rated to 1000hp... :o

Good luck, and keep the posts coming!!!

Hi, Dans friend here, just thought i'd mention a few things.
Keep in mind that you will have to pay GST on top of what you import, and possibly import tax. Although I dont think import tax applies to car parts, not that i have seen anyway.

You can also buy a lot of those parts locally for a substantially similar price, so it might work out cheaper to source things liek the fuel system parts from local suppliers. That way you get someone local to hold a warranty against also in case of part failure.

If you want 500HP/370KW at the wheels, the gt35/40 will do it. However, it will be on race fuel and about 28psi of boost. A true 500hp atw on pump fuel will come from a 7-800hp turbo running lower boost.
There are so many factors at that power level though, so this may vary. But best not to be the ginnea pig who finds out if it will work. Research other peoples projects and see what they used to get the job done.

Also I have to recommend getting an ECU that local tuners are comfortable with. Something like a Linkplus G3, Autronic SM4/SMC or motec m800 are all cheaper that the 034 ecu, and they are all more than capable of getting the job done, and local tuners have lots of experience with them

td19

Awesome! ... have you decided yet what you will do to uprate the brakes?

R32 Simon

Going for the bigger 993 Porsche set up at the front  >:D

Yes i have read the thread on that tubular manifold cracking, the cast one is the way to go I think, thanks for that.

Thanks for the info, that is my concern that i buy these parts and no one can fit or tune the car!, thanks again hemihead

hemihead

no worries, whilst i am certain that javad and the 034 crew know exactly what they are doing, i don't! so thats why i'll be running a linkplus G3 on my aan, then i can waltz into most reputable tuning shops in nz and get them to tune it for me, i've also found some I5 specific performance parts in the states cheaper than 034. I'm assuming you use motorgeek.com the wealth of knowledge on there is astounding!
