Looks... awful.

Reminds me of a 'new look' russian car. No way near as nice as a proper old school Mk1 GTI.

You've gotta be careful saying things like 'SA' and 'MK1' on this forum buddy, like I've found out the hard way there's bugger all respect for the Citi here  :( but few have driven them  ;) like me and the wife reckon we've done half a million kms plus in Citis between us over the years and WE LOVE THEM!!!!

Depends on which model. The 1.6 use to put out 63kW. I can't recall whether the later 1.8 models put out 70 or 75. I think the 'Sport' version pumped 75kW.

If thats the case Id say a Mk1 GTI 1.6 would own a Citi Sport as the Mk1 GTI is 81KW.

What final drive are you using Nik, sure isnt standard?
Skill is, sucessfully tightrope walking across the Niagra Falls.
Intelligence is, having the sense not to do it.

Leather ?? This is not a standard Citi issue. I like the sound of it though.

Depending on which year, these units shipped with a 5th gear ratio of .89:1 or .78:1. They used a single barrelled Keihin carb on a the 1595cc motor and were rated at 60kW, the torque figures for the 60kW were 130Nm. The 1.8 Sport model was released after the CTi, and after I left SA, so I can't shed any light on it's details.

My own SA Mk1 brag: My 4+E GTS (63kW & 135Nm, 1588cc, 1982), had a close ratio box through to 4th with a mean overdrive (.68:1 from memory) for 5th would allow one to tool along at 3000 @ 120k on coastal altitudes. Great for economy , but she use to cry in Joburg without special tweaking. Up to 80ks she was a threat to Mitsi Tredia Turbos, up to 110 a stock 924. 0-100 clocked informally (fellow meatheads with stopwatch) at ?9.5s.

GO THE CITI!  The one i had briefly was peppy and tourqey.  :-]
