as above, the car felt rather sluggish the other day and i noticed i was getting through a bit more gas than normal. Got home that night and used the vagcom with scan showing the following

"16500 engine coolant temp sensor (g62) implausible signal"

surfed through the net and found this DIY on how to change
http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1287042&page=1

sweet as i thought so got in touch with platinum and asked for the newer green version of the sensor, found out they had one in stock so went and picked it up

went to fit it today and just my luck the sensor that is there looks nothing like what i bought to replace  it
with. ok so either
1.) im looking in totally the wrong place in the engine bay
2) or i jumped the gun asking for the wrong part.  ::)

any ideas

Sorry I missed this, just ask them for the latest version of the square sensor as they have been superseded several times, don't have my etka disk here to look up the number sorry.

so i ended up getting the right one and fitted. difinetly runs better now, but i do have another issue. Since i replaced this sensor the temp gauge on the dash takes forever to reach operating temperature.

any ideas? havent had a chance to vagcom it again as my computer died on me.

yeah everything ive found on the net points to the thermostat or at worst the waterpump. hopefully its the cheaper one.

if its the waterpump mate i wolud think it wolud be more likely to overheat as it woludent be pumping enough water through, but that colud also show the temp sensor reading COLD! as their wolud be stuff all water moving though the hose, but yours points to thermostat beacuse it DOES reach running temp eventualy
