Title: Mick R32 Turbo Mk4 Build Thread
Post by: Micklammers on September 23, 2019, 09:31:27 PM
So thought i would start a thread on my build that Ive just started.
Car is Mk4 R32 NZ New Golf (2 door) Reflex Silver. I bought this off the one and only owner (an old fella) about 4 years ago and was introduced to the vrt world by a group of mates. First i had a supercharger kit which i ended up selling before i installed as i wanted more power than it could offer. So i began collecting parts to make a custom turbo kit.

Currently car sits on BC Gold coilovers with OZ Superturismo LM wheels

My turbo kit incudes;
Borgwarner S366 (0.88 AR) turbocharger Single scroll. QR50 Tial recirculating BOV, 50mm Progate Turbosmart Wastegate, ARP head and main studs, standard head gasket, new timing chain kit, 034 external oil cooler sandwich kit, JE 84mm 8.5:1 forged pistons, IE H Beam Con Rods, Calico coated main and rod bearings, new exhaust valves, all new valve stem seals, new keepers, DW65 high pressure fuel pump, 630cc Bosch injectors with adapters, 4 bar fpr, custom made intake manifold, Will be getting a tubular exhaust manifold made, 4inch maf housing. eboost street electronic boost controller, cts 3 inch cat back exhaust, Clutchmasters FX400 clutch kit.
The gearbox will be getting reinforced by drilling out rivets and replacing with solid stronger bolts.

The car is currently with Westworx in Henderson getting the motor built by John who has been extremely helpful and knows his stuff. After which it will be going to a fabrication shop in South Auckland called Bespoke Fabrication to get custom intercooler piping, tubular exhaust manifold, screamer and downpipe made. After this it will be ready for tuning. Tuning so far has been the scariest as the vrt is not very common in NZ however i think i may have found someone i am comfortable with. At the moment the plan is to run a 4 inch maf and tune the stock ECU however i am tossing up whether or not to go stand alone -if i do it is likely to be the ECU Master EMU Black and adapter which makes the R32 plug n play with this ECU.

So thats a brief overview. Thought id do a thread if anyone wanted to follow progress. Will post up photos and progress as this build continues.

I've been reading about ECU Master EMU Black with adapter for 1.8T.  Very keen to hear how you get on with yours.
