Auto to manual conversion requires a bit of cutting and welding

you got the trans installed? What gearbox did you use? What rear diff? Did you find these in NZ?

Gearbox is in, i was doing an engine swap at the same time as I originally bought it for the engine. Im using an ENV gearbox from a v6 tdi. It has good long ratios and is 3.89 so I dont have to change the rear diff. Gearbox and associated parts came from europe

Nice, I always thought swapping diff was a stupid idea when many Audi gear boxes are 3.89, this solution is better as long as ratios are nice and gearbox is strong enough.

Swapping to 4.11 is no big deal, I've got a stack of diffs

Ratios suited and it has the oil pump on it

Will be keen to hear about the results when done, car will fly. I quite like the auto trans though, there must be some later model auto / tiptronic boxes that would also fit if mine goes kaput one day, ECU communication may be an issue though.

Never heard back about this? How did it go?

Did you change the front tripod CV's to the ball (Rzeppa) type or did the originals fit?

Did the main driveshaft (Cardan shaft) fit or did you use one of a different length?
