since i got the car, found out either the bulb or the wiring to the front passenger side fog light isn't working, just wondering if it's most likely be the bulb or wiring?

also, the rear passenger light that comes on when you turn the car lights on(idk the name for it lol), seems to have a wiring issues, have replaces the bulb but that didn't help, woukd this be easy to fix by myself, or should i go get it looked at by a professional?

Check the fuse box first, might find its the same fuse for both lights.
Display shows fuel consumption, trip record, outside air temp etc, to cycle through these, use the button on the outside edge of the right hand (wiper control) stalk.

Its probably the wiring, theres a lot of heat behind the units themselves and the insulation gets brittle over the time. Look at the fuses first, when fixing problems on these cars go from the cheapest solution first. Its good to invest in an obdeleven as well
I don't mean to insult your intelligence, but have you checked that the light switch is in the correct position? so easy to overlook
also, you need to take the bumper off to get to the the passenger side headlamp unit, not difficult, but a nuisance, once you get there replacing the bulb is straighforward
as a new Mk4 owner, check and clean the big fuses on top of the battery for any corrosion as they can cause fires

I'm sorry, just a bit confused on how I could put the light switch in the wrong position? if the lights were on, on the right side, shouldn't they also be on for the left side, or is there a different switch or something? lol.
can have a look after work but I'm pretty sure the lights were fully on when I shot the video!
also checked the fuse box, and all wires seemed to be in fine condition, non corroded & looking good, will get a picture sometime today
going to properly check the internal fuse box tomorrow morning

luckily the fuses above the battery seems pretty clean (or atleast to me, can get some pictures later on for some expert help)

I'm talking about the running rear light, and the light underneath the main headlight when you unlock/lock the car (parking lights?)

The instrument display cycles between distance travelled, time taken, current fuel economy, average fuel economy, and average speed. You cycle through them by using the up/down button on the end of the wiper stalk.
Pushing the button on the bottom of the wiper stalk cycles the display between your current trip (1) and since the trip computer was reset (2). You reset the trip computer by pressing and holding the bottom button.
I don't think the fog lights should flash when you lock/unlock the car. Usually it's just the indicators, so there could be a bad earth or shorted wires. To test the front fog lights, turn your key on, turn your park lights on, then pull the light switch out one click to see if they both work. I'd also operate the indicators or hazard lights (with the fog lights turned off) and check to make sure that fog light isn't flashing with them.
My first thought when seeing the rear drivers side tail light on by itself is that your lights are switched off, and you've left your RH indicator on and taken the key out, as that's what happens (for parking on narrow streets at night). But if your parklights or headlights are definitely switched on, you'd probably need a multimeter to test you've got power and earth to the LH tail light unit, and if so test you've got continuity through the unit to the bulb holder (both power and earth).

If you want to check the LH tail light fuse, it's inside the car (the panel is on the side of the dashboard, visible when the drivers door is open). There are separate fuses for LH and RH tail lights.

Unless your lights are wired differently to mine, the innermost lights in each cluster should be park and high beam. The outermost lights are low beam. And your foglights are the ones underneath the indicators.
In which case your foglights aren't working at all (no big deal), but your LH park light isn't working in those pics. So check the fuse I mentioned above, because the LH tail light and LH park light share the same fuse.
The R32 has the xenon lights, which don't include fog/spot lights like the halogen units - they have double indicators instead.
The issue here is with your high beam.

Fuse 23 is for the left park lights according to the mk4 fuse diagram.
Like Louie has mentioned earlier, the wiring insulation inside the headlamps get brittle with heat and start shorting out. Perhaps start off with a new fuse whilst having the headlight connector disconnected and see if the tail lights work, then connect the headlamp and see if the fuse holds OR pops again. Gotta love mk4's hey......
Does the car have led number plate lights and led park lights?

yep, took it to a shop today and the fuse 23 did pop again, the guys said there are some exposed wires that lead to the headlight (which is probably causing it to pop?), and no power at all going to the rear parking light, so I'll take that to a electionics guy and get that fixed, nothing too major i don't think!
