Title: Aircon not working at low temperatures
Post by: Trofeo on September 11, 2017, 08:35:46 AM
While at ruapehu over the weekend in the Amarok, I noticed the aircon didn't seem to work. Windows all fogged up despite the clear windscreen button being used. Took about 15mins before I got the whole screen clear.

I have a feeling its due to the outside temp being too low and therefore the pump not running. And from what I've found on the internet it seems to be designed this way.

Is this correct?

It takes time for the glass to warm up. like if you walk from outside into a warm house, glasses can fog up for minutes

This is probably not much help but the aircon in my RS2 definitely shuts off below about 5 deg. Haven't seen the same thing with my other cars.

the owners book isn't very specific, other than a note in the windscreen defrost section, that in temperatures above 3 deg, the air will be dehumidified.

I guess that is the answer I wasn't looking for...
