why is the inside of my front left wheel completely coated in a grimy oil?
???
pass.
anton had a similar problem...think it had something to do with the CVs??
ask him
Your outer cv boot has either torn or popped off and the cv grease has now been deposited on the inside of your wheel/wheel arch. Get it looked at fairly quickly or you will be replacing the whole cv rather than just the boot.

i couldn't see under the car very well so just held my camera up there. saves taking out the jack. 8)
anyway, my warranty covers the CV boot and the joint itself so i should be sweet. hopefully giltraps will clean all the grease too, it's going to be a bastard.
As my wife would say, ewww........yuuuckkk........
all fixed now, plus a bunch of other little things i couldn't be bothered getting done on their own.
autosure's warranty is good. everything was covered.
