I would have to say this is the worst engine vw has made

I have that engine in my LT35 campervan. Ex rental, done 320k kms (manual). Reliable as. Pulls well for the size of vehicle. Smokes a little on startup but otherwise I've had no issues. pretty economical too.
What makes you think it is their worst engine? Performance?

That's a completely different engine, the old 5cyl that you have are excellent, the new 5cyl in the t5 is a pos

Ah right, fair enough. I don't know anything about the newer engine or that it was that different.
