Title: 2.0 FSI, are they DSG or not?
Post by: wsnownz on September 02, 2017, 06:07:14 PM
Looking at 05 to 07 model Golfs and Jettas to replace a family members ageing Passat.
Are the 2 litre FSI models DSG or not? Cheers

2.0 NA FSI are not DSG - 09G 6 speed auto.

The valve bodies on them crap out. They're a japanese trans, made my aisin.

Dunno if DSG or 09G is better from that point of view.

My NZ new 2006 2.0 FSI Touran had the 09G valve body done at a bit over 100K kms and it was dealer "serviced" right up until that point. Some fail much earlier, some much later.

Any idea when the cam belt should be done on these engines?
Looking at one with 120 odd thousand on it, hasn't has belt done.
13 years old though so would've thought it would need done

My understanding is that servicing the 09g trans at 60k is the European service schedule and makes them a much more reliable trans.
Nz vw still has them down as no servicing required..
