Title: Mk5 GTI - Battery Removal without turning off power supply?
Post by: Jasera on August 25, 2020, 07:35:58 PM
Hi All,

I need to do a DSG change on my MK5 which requires the battery and its housing to be disconnected.

However, I don't want to completely shut off the car power supply as this will void my tune (which I want to avoid due to the distance to travel + retune fee)

I understand this is not the safest thing to do of course, but has anyone got some ideas advice around this?

My plan would be to put a trickle charger at the end of the ground & live wires and disconnect the terminals which should keep it alive, and then carry out the service.

Thanks.

No need, I never remove the battery or battery tray.
Easy enough to change filter without removing either.

Do you want to pull the whole gearbox out or just do a fluid and filter change?
