As a new member I thought I'd share my Coupe rebuild diary.
The target is a "restomod" tidy-up of the old girl.
Not too many external updates are planned, more turning her into a clean, reliable, and (hopefully) perky performer.
Most of the time is spent on running gear, electrics upgrade and interior revamp.
Not too far into it yet, but progressing well.
The patient:
1989 Audi Coupe Quattro - very poor condition when I got it.
The donor:
...... well this is not quite a bullet-point kinda target :)
Essentially the Coupe is accepting a new life from a B5 A4 1.8t quattro.
This includes:
The entire chassis wiring loom.
The Dash, dash frame, HVAC
The engine.
The engine harness.
The hubs and brakes.
having trouble uploading images :(
Hi. Welcome
The best way to do images is to upload them to an external host like Photobucket or imgur. From there you can paste the links to here.
When you create a post you will see the Mona Lisa icon. (https://www.vask.org.nz/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1033.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fa418%2Fnschlabitz%2FCapture_zpsg03xns2p.png&hash=b672d9f2e57890c624bb54811e5dde30dae24cb2) Click on that and just paste your image URL between the image tags it creates
Should look a bit like this

Sounds like an awesome project.

Nice. I was getting a bit sick of the Photobucket stuff.

I use Photobucket, but it's clunky and buggy on mobile devices. Gives impression no effort going in to development.

The Initial Strip-down of the Coupe:
Not unlike any other Coupe, she was FULL of water!!
No major rust unearthed, just normal around windscreen and rear quarter glass

I'm deep into the wiring at the moment.
This (very important) part of the build is tooooooo boring to post photos off!
I'm converting the 4-door B5 loom to 2-door, but using the r/rear door circuit to drive the Coupe's sunroof.
Should have the loom trial fitted by the end of the month :|
Looks awesome.
Good effort so far
Cool project.
awesome, can't wait to see end result and the journey
Wow nice job! Did you buy this coupe a few months ago on Trademe by any chance?
#impressed
Thanks!
Been a lot of work and a lot of fun so far!
I'm busy uploading some more images now.
All suspension and crossmember components are going to the great team at Spraywell Industries later this week for powdercoating - super excited about that!!
Will post some more progress shortly.
Some wiring picks:
The loom is now terminated and trial fitted to the coupe - still have to wire up the hatch and the doors, but everything else worked!!!
Shock/horror!! :)

Yes i did. The plan was to put the AAN into it but the wiring in the car was completely fried. So i decided to go the restoMod way. Body ok but had some terrible collision repair work at some stage of it's life. Suspension completely shot. Interior completely shot. Looked good on the surface :)
I have the complete wiring loom from an aby s2 coupe if you decide to go the 20vt route later, also have quite a lot of s2 specific parts, head lights, bumpers, manifolds, 6 speed ect

Thanks. You north or South? Have a long list of parts i still need to source. I get most my parts through audi-tradition but they can be very slow (fortunately the price makes up for it)
I'll update post next week again - In the meantime, I've changed the drivetrain specs a wee bit. Going CAKA with a 0B5 trans. Losing a lot of time on the prep I've done so far, but couldn't resist. APR ultracharger kit with Stage 2 tune and pulley kit ordered.
Photos to follow.
If anyone has any use for a AEB 1.8t (150k on it) let me know. Also the matching 5spd and diff available. I'll give it a week before chucking it on TradeMe.
Holy crap, that's only a minor change in engine spec...... Have you ever in your life uttered the phrase... "Go big or go home"
