Title: Mk2 Subframe help!!!
Post by: Timmsy on January 18, 2018, 07:04:55 PM
Right, I have build myself a 1987 MK2 1.8 20VT 4door only to now find myself wanting a 2 door.
I have found a 1984 MK2 (both CLI) and am wondering if I am to drop both sub frames will the switch over perfectly?

Any help would be mad!!

you will run in to issues the 3-door uses a longer subframe than the 4 door you will need to find a MK3 jetta subframe to work.

I'm surprised to hear this, is this for the rear beam? I used a mk3 front subframe and rear beam from a 5 door, 4 stud car in a 3 door mk2. The rear beam was slightly longer (I think all mk3s are) by about 1cm, but since the car was also lowered it ended up working perfectly - better than the standard one which tucks the wheel forwards in the arch slightly when lowered.

The front should work no worries.
