Title: Goodbye RR URQ
Post by: WRURQ on March 16, 2018, 08:53:39 AM
Have sold the RR, have enjoyed every minute of owning but was always torn between keeping it in mint condition with limited KM?s vs wanting to drive more, had a high cash offer that got me thinking. So I ended up buying a B5 RS4 from fellow Vask member and an older 1986 White ur quattro that I plan to use as a daily driver...

I saw a new listing from toy shop on FB. Hope it stays in NZ.

Happy driving.

Oo, big changes. How does the '86 urq compare? It's a WR like mine I assume?

What's the '86 white ones history Al? Is it one we know of on VASK, or sprung up from somewhere else?

Yes it?s Stefan?s quattro that he has owned for about 10 years, prior to this was in Christchurch. I originally came accross it a couple of years ago when I got Hasslers to re-paint my RR rear boot spoiler and Stefan showed me the quattro under a cover.  Sounds like I approached Stefan just in time!

Am really enjoying driving the WR as a daily, liking the dark interior, WR steering wheel, green dash with turbo boost guage and sound from the scorpion exhaust. Need to resist the urge to make it immaculate like the RR!

I remember seeing it around town the first few days after he bought it.  Should remember who the owner was but the memory is greying out ;)

May have been a local solicitor?

I do however remember thinking how tame it sounded compared to my 1985 urq, but no surprise in that

Having been driving the WR now for a week I feel it has a bit more character than the RR and sounds much better!

Never clever to do that! Hopefully there's just a wobble in the sale and they're advertising again just in case.

How's your MB coming along?

My money's on marketing strategy.
Especially since they are in market of selling exotic cars for high dollars.
Advertising the fact that this one sold of xx$ so when the next one comes along that's where the market expect it to be.

Interesting. Found out this is still for sale (via a roundabout way). This is a friend of the seller trying to promote it. His words:

QuoteI love these Audi?s but I haven?t done much research into them regardings models, years and what they are worth. The exact model of this is a Audi 1990 UR RR 20V Quattro Sport, if you could give me more insight into the model that would be great.

The owner want 160k ono and has said he could easily get 200k plus in Aussie but would prefer not to go through the hassle of doing that.

Not sure what currency he's talking about but it's not NZD :D

He might get half those numbers.

Maybe he thinks people with that much money to spend are inherently stupid

That?s interesting, I heard the Car ended up in Queenstown.... Having owned this Car I can say it?s an awesome Car but much closer to $100k awesome than $160k ... He is dreaming ...

I buy a lot of salvage cars out of Q'town

It's peak season for the tow company down there and also for me - disproportionately often Audis of one kind or another that fall into the hands of idiots who think that the laws of dynamics and physics don't apply on snow and ice if you have a quattro badge

Let's hope this is not the next victim
