Title: Oil Leak Passat 2000 2.8
Post by: d1eng on June 17, 2021, 07:48:36 PM
Hi there, just looking for a little advice. My daughter bought a 2000 2.8 tiptronic Passat probably 18 months ago. been well looked after, but we knew the cambelt needed doing in about 12 months. On top of that the car had an oil leak and was advised that the rocker covers needed replacing as well as the spark plugs. She could only afford the cambelt and water pump getting done which was about $1650 and she has been quoted for 2 rocker covers, 6 spark plugs, transmission filter kit, transmission oil and 8 hours of labour at $90 an hour. Total price $1,425 plus gst = $1,639.67. She is based in New Plymouth. Obviously quite a lot of money. Does this seem about right, do they have 2 rocker covers? and is 8 hours labour needed to do this work? Any help would be appreciated
