Title: 1996 NZ New A6 Quattro Avant manual query
Post by: Matt on April 17, 2013, 06:21:19 PM
Hi all,
Keen to check out this NZ New 1996 Audi A6 2.6 quattro wagon http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/audi/a6/auction-583257931.htm but couldn't see a diff-lock button by the handbrake,  VIR says it is actually a Front Wheel Drive but you can see the Quattro badges on the back and above the glovebox - owner informs me it is a quattro as has a rear diff.. any ideas about if the NZ New model came with the diff lock?

Cheers,
Matt

Nothing major. They are really quite reliable. I have a 2.8 30v quattro wagon with s6 running gear. Aslong as it drives without any clunks it will be fine.

Make sure the heater works and the heatercore isn't leaking into the footwell. Check all the functions of the climate control work. Oil leaks are pretty common from the valve covers and rear cam plug, also between the V of the engine. Check the power steering fluid is a dark green color and not red ATF. Ignition switches are pretty common to fail, key wont feel smooth when you turn it and sometimes wont release the key unless you turn it back to run, then try again, Replace before it fails completely, only buy genuine.

You seen that green one been wrecked on trade?, if you need some parts. i think its a 30V. Might look into seeing what they want for the motor+gearbox+wiring loom
