depends.

Do you want a right job?
do you want it really low (coil overs),
or do you simply want the car lowered?

Lowering springs = no cert.
Coilovers = cert ($500+)

Mine is none sline, I want to get rid of the 4x4 look, been trying to source some sline suspensions but can't find something good, so I don't want to it really low, I want to be sline hight just improve the look, thought to buy from ecs or euro parts but shipping is insane so I guess I can find a better deal here in nz.
Can you point me to where mate ?

Which coileovers ? STs, H&R ....? I don't think so :)
I guess JOMs will fit this figure which I'm happy to use. It can't find where to buy it from in nz

Just get some lowering springs, I personally like H&R's.

I think he meant you still need to add another $500 to your coilover price to get the cert done afterwards, so you would be looking north of $2k for a decent setup.

Just get some lowering springs, I personally like H&R's.

Thought about that and it's easy upgrade but it will expedite the stock shocks wear.

Have you done it ? How long it's been?

Why do I need a cert ? If I got a decent H&R or ST kit.

You don't need a cert if you are just doing a fixed height replacement. So you can do struts and/or springs without needing to cert the drop. Unless of course you end up putting in something like adjustable camber plates.

if you are after ST shock kit or coil overs?
I can provide KW and a few others as well.
This I can most certainly assist with.

For everyone else, coil over certification costs $790 now
I have a car booked in next week for an LVV cert.

I'm after a shock and spring kit to keep the cost down and I'm not after a crazy drop mate , I want an sline hight. What can you offer here ?

Just to confirm : when I need a certification ? Only if I go really low ?

Cert required if less than 100mm ground clearance, or if the height is adjustable: http://www.lvvta.org.nz/documents/suplementary_information/LVVTA_LVV_Cert_Threshold.pdf (http://www.lvvta.org.nz/documents/suplementary_information/LVVTA_LVV_Cert_Threshold.pdf)

So a small drop using lowering springs should be fine.

So a small drop using lowering springs should be fine.

As Le Mans pointed out,
If a structural part of the vehicle is below 100mm from the ground. Even with Lowering springs.
The vehicle would require LVV.

Make sense.
I'm after suspension kits with fixed hight That is not below 100mm so below doesn't apply :)

What options are avaible in Nz to acuhive like 30mm drop, I'm looking for spring + shock kit.

Thanks guys.

Just to understand what is a legal drop  and how many mm.?

I've never come across one must have a certificate if the car is lowered. I can understand that certain drops must be within certain ranges maybe where I used to come from all this doesn't exist cause no one was monitoring it or there was no legislation in place stipulating what is a safe drop and what's regarded as overboard such as bagging.

The thresholds are in the link above (steering and suspension). Anything that exceeds the threshold and has not been certified by the LVVTA should fail a wof inspection.

I can't find the link right now,
But found some H&R springs on trade me for $280-350. Again can't exactly remember price I saw.
Have a quick search.

That depends on what was mentioned earlier that no structural part of the vehicle is lower than 100mm.
Each car is different.

For example, A tiguan with 300mm off the ground, could in theory be lowered as much as 200mm.
But a car that has 120mm off the ground, 20mm or less lowering kit, taking into account the spring settling height.

I heard that if you got coilovers installed then you must get a certificate
Find hard to believe and yet and I can confirm it's true.

Anyone ?

This is correct. And you can only adjust the height +/- 5%.
These days certs are $700ish.

Even if the ground clearance is above 100mm still cert is required !?!

This is a ripoff , WTF $700 for someone to have a look at a German certified coils and stick a plate... fffak
