Decided to finally make this mod public so anyone can do it if they have tools, steering wheels and associated parts.
Basically to make the MK4 GTI 3 spoke steering wheel fit into a MK3.
Here is a photo of what I have done so far.

it's my only spot to work on, the floor that is.
Have made more progress on this steering wheel. Test fitting it in the next day or so. If all goes well, I will do the full write up.
Just not worth providing everyone with half measures of information, until done
Finally got a chance for some updates and test fitment.
Good news is Airbag light operates just as per OEM, Horn also works.
Only need to transfer the trigger plate from the MK3 steering wheel to the MK4 steering wheel so that the slip ring works correctly.
So will try to get this completed this weekend so that I can start using the MK4 steering wheel from Monday.
If all goes well? I will take photo's and try my best to explain what I have done, so that anyone else can also try this mod if they wish.

I have one final adjustment to make. Then I'll post everything.
My time has just been very much tied up in helping family the past 6 months.
So my car related stuff has been put on the back burner.
I'm updating this purely, as I have loaned my mk3 to a family member a few months ago.
Advised they can use it for as long as they need.
As soon as I finally get the car back, I can fit the steering wheel and finalize all the relevant information. In case anyone else would like to perform this swap in their car too.
