Title: Work-around for photobucket 3rd party hosting
Post by: le mans on November 02, 2017, 10:04:00 AM
During random trawling of another car forum I came across this. If you modify the URL for a photobucket linked picture to say ~original immediately after .jpg then the link will work again. Of course it may only be a matter of time before they close this down but could be worth a try if you want to resurrect a thread that's been rendered useless. I won't be using photobucket for any future hosting though. That ship has sailed!

By way of example this:
(https://www.vask.org.nz/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi178.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw257%2Fjon_henderson%2FMisc%2FIMG_6392.jpg&hash=2aed6f2c19cdafd7188c8716e5544dbb0807110a) (http://s178.photobucket.com/user/jon_henderson/media/Misc/IMG_6392.jpg.html)

Becomes this:

Thanks Jon.

If forums worldwide were struggling enough photobucket pulling the pin on hosting photos hasn't helped.

There?s only one way that?s going to turn out then!

Found another work around. If you use chrome browser you can download a plugin that will allow the blocked photobucket images to load:

or you could just use imgur or other hosting site

Agreed. The workaround is for viewing molestered threads that use existing photobucket hotlinks.

Thanks for that. I've read plenty of mod how tos over the years with photos hosted by Photobucket that I will need to refer to in the future.  I'm sure not many people (myself included) can be bothered going through old threads to redo all their photos

If you're a Chrome user this extension will just automatically fix all the broken images for you without having to do a thing... Apart from install it that is
