Title: mk4 R32 tune options in NZ
Post by: marty7 on November 12, 2020, 10:50:36 AM
Hi team,

Can anyone recommend a tune for the R32? I'd like to decat and go stage 2...

I've been calling around and it looks like there are some good options.

-Custom tune with Elite Motorsports in C-Church

-Unitronic tune with a few different dealers in NZ (would be most convenient). A quick google search brought up some mixed reviews for this tune though, although they were all quite old.

-APR stage1 w/high flow cats. Most expensive, least gains, less sound. I imagine the emissions difference of highflow cat vs decat is somewhat negligible considering we are talking about a high output 3.2L from 2004...

Thoughts?

Sell it and buy a turbo car if you want more power.
Call me old but I still feel tuning NA is a waste of money.
Lots of claims out there but rarely if ever dyno proven.

My last R32 was tuned and there was a very noticeable difference...It had the APR stage2.

Not looking for huge gains and don't have tens of thousands or the shop space to do a turbo build. Someday that would be fun though.

If you have experience with APR, then maybe contact them?

I?ve got a discount voucher i?m happy to pass on if you do decide to go down that route.

Did you get the new performance tyres fitted yet? Which brand did you go with?

Tyres not fitted yet! Narrowed it down to Michelin pilot sport 4. Just chasing a couple of deals before committing to them.
