Title: New Old VW parts.
Post by: sandy4215 on November 08, 2017, 09:10:38 AM
Hi,

Was wondering if anyone has any advice for getting some parts for my '86 Polo. I have had a look on Google but not really had much joy when looking for suppliers. I am mainly looking at lowering shocks and springs and braking components at the moment.

Thanks

James

Have you tried VW Heritage?

https://au.vwheritage.com/

Or if you want to buy lowering springs off the shelf, I'm sure some of the local shops should be able to supply you something, try Autolign.

you could also see what you can find out about the interchangability between the Polo and other VW vehicles of the time, in case you can source parts from sellers who aren't aware of the cross-over.

it might be worth joining UK polos.net as there's probably more knowledge there

https://uk-polos.net/ (https://uk-polos.net/)

Thanks guys.

I have used VW heritage when I owned a golf in the UK. I am going to go look at pickapart at the weekend and see what I can scavenge.

Might just be easier to buy what I need from the uk and get it shipped over in 1 go. I am on clubpolo and there is some good information on there.

You can check what they have here - http://pickapart.co.nz/ - click on the vehicle for more info' - but they all (in the Auckland branches) seem to be at least a decade older than yours.

Thanks Gordo, the website part for Chch isn't as good but will go for a look around. Hopefully get some nice  VWII Calipers and 239mm discs and pads.
