Title: Clearing AirBag error
Post by: dubdub on December 26, 2017, 10:59:06 AM
Hey there, so while installing my new stereo into the B6 Passat, I disconnected the passenger side airbag off dash light, which is apparently a no no, so now I have an airbag fault light.  :-[

I have a cheapo OBD cable and some of the VCDS Lite and older VAG COM software, but none will connect to clear the air bag error. (they will connect to scan the motor / gearbox so I know the cable works)

Any tricks anyone knows of and would like to share?

I did the same thing about a month ago. A friend with a cheap OBDII tool reset it for me. Maybe someone here with one can help you out.

By the way, did you have the ignition on with it disconnected? I have to take the panel of again and wondering if I can get away with it if ignition is of the entire time.

No, having the ignition off won't make any difference.

I can do it for either of you though. I'm in east Auckland.

Thanks. I'll try not to disconnect it and may get vcds yet. But if I get stick this weekend I'll let you know.
