Title: Recommendation for Mechanic in Wellington
Post by: Gus on March 05, 2016, 09:17:54 AM
Hi,

My daughter has just bought a 2003 Lupo 1.4 with 112,000km. There is no service history with the car so I am recommending that she get the cam belt replaced.  Can anyone suggest a good mechanic in central/southern Wellington and what you would expect this job to cost?

Thanks
Craig

I've been to a few mechanics (Armstrongs, toy shop) and ended up with the Toy Shop.

Love them , know their stuff (or willing to learn) , great guys to deal with and seem to be reasonably priced.

Not sure on anyone elses experience with them but thats my 2 cents.

:D

For a few years i've been going to Reuben at Powerhaus in Thorndon they are a Porsche/VAG specialist.

In recent years i've been going to Scotty at Motor Doctors in Thorndon - he knows his stuff and is also willing to learn. I got his name through Tim (Creepdontsleep) and now a few of us VASKers take our cars to him so he's very familiar with VWs.
