I like it. best colour IMO.

I don't think you would be disappointed, but get a warranty

Have you considered something like this for similar money https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/audi/auction-2007599046.htm

go the R.
faster than GTI, will run rings around the old RS3.

not a fan of leather seats in the R but i hate the digital dash even more.

The newer Audis look good (and look better than golfs imo!) (the 8V+ models) its just the pre 2014 A3/S3/RS3 look absolutely TERRIBLE

If your choice is a MK7 Golf R, MK7.5 Golf GTI or old as RS3
Definitely get the MK7 Golf R

If you tuned the GTI, it would get closer to the Golf R performance
If you tuned the Golf R it would run rings around the RS3 and the GTI you won't even see it in your rear mirror

Word on the "street" is the MK8 Golf R will be 400hp - so at least if you get the MK7 Golf R, a nice stage 2 tune will get you the same power so that's some nice feel good factor so you don't feel left behind IMO

Do it....i don't regret buying my R. Such an awesome all round daily car with huge tuning potential. Mines has a Stage 2 ECU/DSG tune and has done high 11s down the 1/4 mile

Just make sure you put some money aside for its major service at 60K ( DSG, Haldex etc ) or see if the dealer can get it done as part of the sale??

Also get a warranty if you can as well.

Not sure about other dealers, but when you buy a secondhand VAG car from an official VAG dealer and IF that car is no older than 6 years, then they throw in a dealer/factory warranty. When I was looking at RS3's all the VAG dealers would throw in a 2 year Audi warranty.

You can also buy this warranty IF your VAG car is no older than 6 years AND your car passes any tests/inspections they wish to perform before selling it to you

There must be some leeway as i bought a 3-year renewal in late 2017 and my car was over 7 years.

Coincidentally i had raised a claim a month before expiry too hahaha.

That wasn't a VW warranty though, was it? I thought it was the Gazley Guarantee which is their warranty provided by Protecta.

Nah the one that came with the car when I bought it was the Gazley Guarantee. When it lapses I purchased another 3 year warranty and they sold me the VW/EMD warranty that doesn?t have any statements or clauses that prevents mods  :P

Oh right! Good score!
I?m warranty-less so free to do mods as the other half approves  :P

Hi there, we bought a GTi 2012 from VW dealer and also got 3 year warranty. It?s not much more expensive than 2 year warranty.

Hi there,Congrats on the R hows it going apart from very quickly? We use the 100 octane from NPD in our GTi but haven?t touched the tune as its under VW warranty, am having cambelt changed at the end of the month (Mk6 ed 35 uses belt instead of chain) and Service so will ask them if they need to do any ?adjusting? when they put the scanner on it.
