Title: A6 C4 auto No start. HELP!
Post by: driftwood on April 02, 2017, 02:05:17 PM
Hello people!
My 1994 A6 2.3 auto has been parked up for a few months and now refuses to start.
The battery is good and the starter spins the engine when 12v is applied directly to it.
However the lock which prevents the gear lever from moving unless the brake pedal is pressed is not working. and it can be taken out of PARK all of the time.
I have checked the fuses and the brake lights work
Any ideas?
Many thanks
Pete

1994, not sure if it is the same problem, but my son has a 2009 A6 and the steering wheel module packed it in. Put the key in the lock, it would not unlock the steering, couldn't get the car into gear. Happens that there is a module attached to the steering column, it is not a separate unit and we had to replace the whole steering column. Cost NZD$2500. This appears to happen frequently to A6 C6 models at around 100,000km but Audi refuses to recall the model.

Maybe check ignition switch? Mine just went in my 96 c4, really easy to replace. Only about $60 too

The connection between ideas can be linked to each other very well.
