On the Mk1, I bought a bunch of the original style fusebox terminals and the necessary tools to extract them from the terminal housings.  This meant that I could strip out whole lengths of wire and replace them without any connections or potential breaks, which makes diagnosing future problems much easier.

Also, try and utilise relays whenever you are adding on accessories to existing switches.  These relays are what I used for my dual horns (NOS Hella Dual tones!).  They are tiny and can be heat shrinked to 'disappear' into the loom.

RS-components is your friend for the terminals :)

They are really neat! Thanks.

In other news I think I cracked a rib! When I was laying across the driver's seat fiddling with ignition wiring last weekend, something gave,. I felt like the metal bar in the seat side support went between two ribs. It winded me for a second and hurt for a bit then has been fairly okay for a week. But now I can hardly move, can't lift stuff and it hurts to breathe. Bugger.

Might slow me down a bit on the wiring but gives me time to collect parts.

B8.5 will have the 3G+ if it has the Nav variant installed. Which is a faster cleaner HMI than the 3G nav.

Also allows for Bluetooth streaming of music as well as phone with no extra wiring etc.

A4 - S4 - RS 4 - A5 - S5 - RS 5 / S4 B8 versus B8.5 tips?

Looking at switching out wifes A4 B7 for an S4 B8 or B8.5.

I know the 8.5 is supposed to be better dual clutch box and moved away from hydraulic rack, but I'm really confused about the MMI stuff.

I've seen some B8's that look to have MMI 3G with nav and reverse cams, but then I've also seen some face lift B8.5 without nav or cam and don't look like they have MMI 3G?

If you want nav and reverse cam is there anything on the B8.5 that is fundamentally better?

Also seems even on modernish car like the bluetooth interface is total garbage with no audio streaming?  Not really keen on using a cable into the AMI port.

I'm not even sure if I would trust the brake components!

Think that was a driver problem, not a brake one.  8)
