Ok, since nobody is interested in buying my spare golf I have decided to turn it into a "bos" class car to learn more about motorsport. I will be stripping the interior etc out to loose some weight. Looking for some good ideas to prep the car to be competitive?

Check out the rules etc here

http://www.hbcarclub.co.nz/classes_and_regs.html

First thing i will need is some decent suspension. The suspension in the car is pretty tired. Does anyone have anything spare? Needs to be cheap to keep in line with the "bos" class.  Not sure if im allowed adjustables or not but the car wont be back on the road so dont need to be wof happy.

What brake upgrades can I do on a small budget? Pretty sure its disc front and drum rears.

They say engine has to be standard but are there any cheeky little mods I can do?

Really looking forward to getting into this - It really seems a good and cheap way to get into it!

Also if anyone wants any of the interior bits im pulling out just let me know.

you'll want 256mm front brakes and rear discs found on older passats.check if you have a sway bar.get it breathing by drilling holes in air box, straight pipe and lighten your fly wheel. new shocks with 16v spec springs[lower&harder].looks like an awesome class.then when you want more power find a 9a or kr 16v.for a very competitive package. Im liking the cheapness of drilling the holes in the air box....  Grin

Not sure I should go low on the shocks as the track im guessing it will get the most use on is just a limestone rally stage. Does anyone have standard shocks (in better cond than mine) lying around they dont need?    Does anyone have the passat brake gear choppy is talking about? I have the front brake set up spare for the Audi 90 I stripped - Does anybody know if that will fit?

Thanks!

Keep the ideas flowing, This car will end up with a big VASK logo painted on it and will be used to promote the site (If allowed)
