Bought this full OEM exhaust and cats from a member here 2 years ago and it has been sitting in my shed since. Well I finally got some motivation to do some maintenance. Also have RS2 replica exhaust manifold to go on.

Finally installed the Ebay RS2 exhaust manifold I bought 5 years ago, sprayed with graphite.

Thanks, I hope I did it justice, a bit of CLR remover and a wire brush was all it took. Installed yesterday.

New PS pump installed, less than $400 shipped from Rockauto.

Damn, graphite on the exhaust manifold is already showing signs of rust and it has only been two heat cycles.. Not sure I why as the manifold wasn't rusty before I sprayed on the graphite.

Have TFSI coils so no coil cover but got some grud in the spark tube which was hard to remove and I'm not too keen to repeat the experience. The common knowledge is that you can't cover the TFSI coils as they may die due to heat, but others think that these coils die simply due to too much dwell due to stock ECU settings. My ECU chip dwell settings are set for these coils and these coils have lasted 7 years with no failures so I am just going to put the coil cover back on to stop any dirt going down the hole. See what happens.. I have a couple of spares.

I stripped the cover of the old degraded black paint but in the end I just painted it black again rather than spend the time making it shiny. About 1 hour to sand and paint vs about 4-5 hours to polish. It's a high heat paint and not a satin black so doesn't look that great.. maybe it looked better just sanded aluminum..

I like it! I actually think the black worked out well on the cover.  From the pics it makes it look cleaner, and a little more modern (probably from it looking a bit more like a plastic cover)

yeah it's grown on me, a little contrast always looks good. Thinking maybe paint bronze :p
