Either continue with fossil fuels ie Avgas and Jet A1 or an alternative fuel source. Fully electrifying an aircraft with heavy battery packs will leave you with very little useful payload and even less range, plus i would not want to be up there at 10 000 or 15 000 ft when the thing catches fire because of thermal runaway.........no thanks.
Yes, i do work in the airlines and its really comical to see more and more people arrive at the airport with their EV's just to then board a fossil fuel burning aircraft to continue onwards.

If you're upset about EVs, I hope you don't sort your recyclables because i got bad news for you.

Perhaps people purchase EVs because it's cheaper for them to run vs. a gasoline powered vehicle. Others may like the technological advancement of EVs, or the instant torque from zero. People have different priorities for vehicle purchases.

You know what they say about opinions 

I own an EV myself. I had the choice of spending $10k on an ICE or EV, and chose EV purely for the fact I can charge it for $0 and it requires very little maintenance.

It's got the bonus of not spitting out noxious gases when I'm driving.

At the same time - I also own a gasoline burning motorcycle, and SUV.

Again - priorities when purchasing a vehicle are different for different people.

This will be my last post in the EV debate. Happy for the EV owners who enjoy their budget rides humming along quietly. I personally think EV's have not been manufactured safe enough for public use yet, hence why i will never put my family in one. For now i enjoy rollin coal.

I always wonder who falls for these clickbait videos - now I know! I love my petrol cars, but after owning an EV I've realised how pointless petrol cars are (maintenance costs, fuel, engine warning  lights  ,DSG issues, and the best of all... no brake dust! ). The chance of a petrol car catching fire is significantly higher than an EV (yes, look it up e.g. https://youtu.be/9kNIyTQ2jeM?si=WvFLGSgrZk9Wsk2U). In terms of putting your family in one, any e.g. Tesla has better crash ratings than any petrol car, let alone one that is over 5 years old. Would you put your family in one of those?

I see the latest click bait is that electric cars are so heavy they destroy the roads and make parking garages collapse! Yet a Tesla model 3 weights the same as a 3 series BMW (e.g see the latest Carwow video with model 3 vs two 340d BMWs). But hey, don't let facts get in the way of a good story!

Yeah that's true regarding the clickbait videos. The YouTube algorithm is a terrifying thing, and it's all designed to keep views up. 

Once you start engaging with the sensationalist clickbait videos, you are fed them consistently, which keeps you in the echo chamber.

My suggestion to EV nay-sayers, is to actually take one for a drive and experience what it's like.

Unfortunately you are on the ball there. Years and years of misinformation will be hard to undo.

I have a couple of clients who have jumped in boots and all for the EV experience, Tesla, MB and Audi. The Audi's actually a plug-in hybrid, but he loves to tell us about how much he hasn't had to put petrol in. I typically counter with the question, what did it cost for the his & hers power modules wired into the recently widened garage. He quietens up quite quickly. I helped the Tesla owner get his Android and iPhone devices setup. The tech is amazing, but the tackiness of the dash and trim left me cold.

Another worked at Hyundai for a spell and was given an Ioniq6 for a long weekend. The father and son trip was Auckland>Rotorua>Hawkes Bay>Poverty Bay>Whakatane>Tauranga>Auckland. Rave reviews about handling, performance and comfort. Both decided they couldn't own one due to the wait times to a. get a charge bay and b. get a charge. They lost around 5-6 hours just waiting.
Curiously the father of this duo sold his AMG a few weeks later and bought a Volvo XC40 B5 hybrid.
