I would rather crawl on my fingers and toes down the road then buy and drive an EV, HORRIBLE things.  :-X

I?ve done about 130,000 kms in an EV. Would never go back to a petrol vehicle as a daily.

All the fuel and maintenance savings can justify my near 20 year old relic.

Happy to help answer anyone?s concerns or misconceptions about EV?s so come at me!

To be honest, transitioning to EV means even our fairly common MK4 Golfs may become coveted some day.

Funny that the governments of the world thats pushing for EV usage fail to mention or show the whole picture.

I'm sure they have their place but I'd rather be dead than drive something as soul less as an EV.

OOOO

I've just come back from a week in California and spent some time driving a Tesla Model S Plaid, Model Y Dual Motor Performance, and a brief test drive of Lucid Air Grand Touring. Admittedly two of these cars US$130k but was enough to sell me on the merits. The Plaid was just next level in performance. That in itself gave it a soul. The Lucid is just an electric version of a Merc S Class but no Merc gets up and boogies like that. 516 mile range as well.

If I had the money I'd buy the performance Model Y for NZ. The tech growth in these sorts of cars is only going to get better.

Gordo

I haven't posted for quite a while, so Happy New Decade, folks.

The problem of people not buying EVs - assuming pure plug-in models(?) - is curious, as there wpould seem to be quite a few advantages, especially if you'd invested in solar/wind power generation.
My biggest issue was the distribution question here, and the generation in countries with limited re-newable generation.
However, while I did read that Freightliner has shut down their electric truck division, there's a small company called Edison, that is developing a logging truck, and hopefully coversions for other vehicles, that uses an on-board high efficiency, on demand, generator to charge a battery-pack which, in turn, provides the tractive power - with a plug-in option for charging also being an option.
These are my thoughts and opinions - sometimes I'm wrong, but not often ;-)

So where does all this free electricity come from ?
Beating up parking wardens ain't a crime.

Exactly. Nothing in the automotive industry is free. Welcome to RUC's for EV's.

Every EV owner who thinks they are doing their "bit" for the environment due to pollution "decrease", guess what, CO2 (the main emission emitted by gasoline cars) is what plants absorb to provide you back with O2. And no, the planet is not getting warmer Greta.

Population control if you ask me.

Nothing against anyone here slowmo, i'm just helping expose EV's as the gigantic hazardous fraud they are, sold under the banner of "doing your bit for the environment". What a farce.
