Hello All,   I have a 2011 Audi a1 1.4 tfsi which I bought this year. Inside the petrol cap it says to fill with unleaded only, I've been filling it with 95 and now the orange ECS came on and turned off. So I scanned the car and diagnostic codes P30C00-fuel quality poor-passive/sporadic and P030100-cyl.1 misfire detected active/static and P030400 Cyl.4 misfire detected active/satic.  My question is: Have I been putting in the wrong fuel and this could possibly be the cause of the problem. Any helpful advice would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Yes, unfortunately you have to invest in 98.

95 here isn't even close. I think the petrol flap says minimum 96.

Thanks for replay Slowmo. I've added the pictures to show why I'm confused, it just says unleaded in English and rest Japanese, on a German made car. Bugger me, no wonder my hair turns grey. I miss the mk3 zephyr and holden V8, life was so simple then.  :)

Ooh, I had a Mk 3 Zephyr 8)
With a 45 litre tank, the difference between 95  and 98 to fill up is negligable

Button ?

Carburetor ?

 ;D

Is that button still even there? I remember these little vent valves on the Mk2 Golf and Gen2 Passats. Used to be handy to use before long journeys in SA.

No button.  Thank you all for your help. Since using 98 the car has behaved and hasn't flash any engine attitude lights. I appreciate you all saving my car's life from my murderess wrong petrol filling hands.

A while ago someone on the forum did a comparison on the different octanes of fuel. It was pretty evident that Audi's and VW's did not run well on 91 or 95 octane. I have always used 98 from BP or Mobil in my petrol cars without any issues. Swiping a rewards card helps bring the price down at the pump, so I do not see any logic in causing damage to your car's engine down the line, just to save a buck now. If one wants to use cheap crappy fuel, buy a kia or honda.  :D
