I liked the thought that it would tend sit in the pitlane at the track, but there would be a scrap for the keys to drive it home, real world car rather than fanboy

real world usability has always been the GTI's strength.

but gimme a stripped out version without all the electronics.

manual and steelies like the original GTI !

Sounds like you need to get a Mk1 or Mk2 then!
