Not sure when this actually started, but I noticed a couple of months ago that my wagon would take an extraordinary long time to come up to temperature.

Thought "I want to replace coolant" and promptly ordered a thermostat kit...without looking into how cumbersome the swap job might be. I'm still waiting on a free (dry) day to tackle it.

Being the gentleman, I always open the passenger door for my wife before getting in and turning the key. But as it was raining hard the other morning, I brought the car up to the front door. It was when she opened the door I heard the roar of the cooling fans! Outside temp was around 16° and the car had traveled about 5m. The wife said "that doesn't sound right to me!"

Have an OBD2 ELM327 BlueTooth dongle and a couple of apps on the Android, they report 08581 and 08583. Now, do I go for sensors or fans when I tackle the thermostat?
